UBS Investment Banking Challenge

UAIC, COMSA, UC The Investment Society, and UBS are excited to bring you the annual UBS Investment Banking Competition.

As an Investment Banker, it is crucial to create value for clients by originating and executing well-structured transactions. You are a new analyst expected to bring fresh ideas to the UBS IBD team. Your Managing Director has instructed you to pitch a potential merger or acquisition in the Australian or New Zealand market. Your MD looks forward to seeing the logic and qualitative and quantitative analysis behind your pitch.

Your task is to:
Pitch a merger or acquisition between two NZX or ASX-listed companies and prepare an analysis and rationale behind it
Present your pitch to a panel of judges from UBS
Answer a subset of finance-related questions asked by the judges

Selected teams will be invited to compete in a UOA heats round on the 6th of August, from which the best teams will be invited to participate in the national finals, going head-to-head with finalists from UOA, UC, and UOO. Both presentation rounds are held at the UBS offices in Auckland.

This competition is designed to be fun and engaging for students from all backgrounds, degrees and ages. You DO NOT need any prerequisite quantitative knowledge!

Teams will consist of 2-4 members. If you sign up as an individual, you will be placed on a team with other UOA students who signed up individually.

Tuesday 21st July - Launch/ signups close
Wednesday 22nd July – Online Zoom tutorial
Thursday 30th July  – Submission deadline at 12pm
Tuesday 4th August – UOA Heats at UBS Offices
Thursday 6th August – National Finals at UBS Offices

All competitors must be registered UAIC members.
