University of Auckland investment club is a student run investment society for UOA students.
The club was founded in 2009 and is now one of the largest clubs at the University with over 500 members.
WHAT WE DO
Students at all levels of understanding are invited to build their investment knowledge through student led tutorials, guest speaking events, and competitions, in a supportive environment.
Each semester, The Club hosts prominent domestic and international guest speakers. Past speakers include fund managers, private investors and politicians. These events are designed to illustrate real life investment application as well as economy wide and business insight.
The club also offers financial valuation tutorials that give members the financial skills they need to make a qualified valuation of a given security. These tutorials take members through the process of analysing an industry, using discounted cash flows and multiples methods, and the theoretical basis underlying Investment Decisions.
The Club also hosts exciting trading events that mimic the trading pits on Wall Street. These events reveal the process of market formation and how to use logic to combat emotion in high-pressure situations.
Through a multitude of environments - from the exchange of ideas to presentations, guest speeches, tutorials and networking events - UAIC offers a great training ground for those with a genuine interest in finance. Check out what we have to offer under "Events and competitions"
