Investing 101

  • The University of Auckland Investment Club 388/12 Grafton Road Auckland, Auckland, 1010 New Zealand (map)

Our annual Investing 101 event is this Wednesday!

Join us for a discussion of basic investment principles and the fundamentals of value investing. No prior investing knowledge is required, as the event is designed for beginners. However, there will also be examples and case studies for members who already have some investing knowledge.

We are very fortunate for the event to be hosted by the incredibly knowledgeable Raymond Webb!

Raymond is an expatriate New Zealander who has lived and worked in the United States since 1997.

From 1999 to 2015, Raymond managed insurance company, pension plan and other portfolios at PICO Holdings, Inc., principally in U.S., Australasian and Swiss small-capitalization value stocks and bonds.

In January 2016, Raymond launched his own company, Industrial Equity, LLC, which has begun to make value investments in under-appreciated U.S. stocks and bonds.
Raymond is in his sixth year as a mentor in the Columbia Business School Value Investing MBA Mentoring Program. He has been a guest speaker in senior finance classes at New York University and the University of Auckland, and a guest speaker and occasional panelist or judge at student investment club events held at Yale University, Columbia, and Pomona College in the U.S., and Victoria University and Auckland in New Zealand.

At the end of the presentation Raymond will be available for a Q&A session, joined by Hamish Kumar (Investment Committee Chair), Foss Shanahan (Past Investment Committee Co-Chair) and Logan Van Rynbach (Bulletin Editor).
This will be followed by pizza and networking!

This event is for members only - we will be taking sign ups on the night so arrive early if you intend on joining! Membership is $20 for the entire year.

We look forward to seeing you there!
